The Experience

You will be kitted up in a full body harness with state of the art equipment and then 2 fully trained guides will take you on the Zipline tour into the mountain. Price includes a drink during and after the tour.

After being kitted up, you will hop on our “Zipslide taxi/bus” and we will transport you a short drive (about 5 km) up into the mountains! On the drive down the main road and through suburban Ceres, you will get a feel for our lovely town before we head up into the mountain.

From the drop off point, a short walk takes you to the departure point at the first slide, from where the breath-taking view reaches over the town of Ceres and across the Ceres Valley. Here the fun starts!

The slides vary in lengths from 100 meters to 291 meters! The highest point above the ground is 40 meters. The duration of the tour is group size dependent.

We operate in all-weather circumstances, we don’t have any group size limited, and children from 3 years old can take part in this amazing adventure.

Our office is situated 1 Voortrekker Street also known as the “Natuurtuin” at the foot of the Michell’s Pass at the entrance of Ceres town from Cape Town side. (R46)

We are open every day of the year from 9h00 to 15h00 (weekdays) and 8h00 – 15h00 (weekends.) During peak seasons we are open till late. Tours depart every hour. Bookings for weekends and for the last tour of the day are essential.

What to expect

Your Ceres Zipline Adventure starts at our office, where our team will welcome you and get you ready for the experience ahead.

Arrival & Check-in

Please arrive 15 minutes before your booked departure time. If you have not completed your indemnity form or any outstanding payment requirements beforehand, these will be completed before you depart for the mountains.

Getting Ready

Once the administration is complete, you will move through to our kitting area, where you will be fitted with your harness and safety equipment. Each guest also receives a bottle of drinking water for the adventure.

Into the Mountains

Then it is time for a real South African experience — a ride in our taxi into the mountains! Our transport takes you from the office to the starting point of the zipline adventure.

Safety Briefing

Your full safety briefing takes place in the mountains before you start on the first zipline. Our guides will explain the safety procedures and operating instructions before the adventure begins.

The Adventure

You will complete eight ziplines through the spectacular Skurweberg Mountains, guided and assisted by our experienced team.

Back to Base

After completing the final zipline, you will walk a short distance back to the taxi and be transported to our office. There, you will be assisted out of your equipment and offered another bottle of water.

How Long Does It Take?

The actual zipline experience generally takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the size and composition of the group.

Safety & Important Information

Your safety is our priority. Ceres Zipline Adventures uses appropriate safety equipment and trained guides, and all participants receive a full safety briefing and operating instructions before starting the first zipline.

Before You Arrive

•   Wear closed, secure shoes suitable for walking on uneven outdoor terrain.

•   Do not wear hats or caps while ziplining, as helmets are provided. Visors are permitted.

•   Tie long hair in a low ponytail or plait. Please do not wear a bun, as it interferes with helmet fitting.

•   Apply sunblock before arrival where appropriate.

•   Use the bathroom before departing for the mountains. There are no toilet facilities in the mountains.

Our Guides

Our guides provide instruction, assistance and supervision throughout the experience.

Weather

We operate in most suitable weather conditions, including rain and snow. Lightning and gale-force winds can make conditions unsafe, and the activity may then be delayed, changed or stopped.

Pregnancy

Pregnant persons may not participate in the zipline activity.

Weight Limitations & Harness Fit

The maximum participant weight is 120 kg.

However, weight alone is not the only consideration. Every guest must fit safely and comfortably into the required harness and safety equipment.

Body shape and proportions can affect harness fit. A person may be within the maximum weight limit but still be unable to participate if the harness cannot be fitted correctly and safely.

For safety reasons, the final decision on participation rests on whether the guest can be fitted safely into the required equipment.

Physical Requirements & Walking

You do not need to be an athlete to enjoy the Ceres Zipline Adventure, but you do need to be reasonably mobile and physically able to take part safely. Guests must be able to support their own body weight and walk independently on uneven natural mountain terrain.

The total walking distance during the experience is approximately 150 metres. This includes:

• A fairly steep, winding/S-shaped footpath up to the starting point.

• A short walk between zipline numbers 6 and 7.

• A short uphill walk, including a few steps, back to the taxi after the final zipline.

This is mountain terrain, with uneven ground, gravel and rocks in places. Guests should therefore be comfortable walking on natural outdoor surfaces.

Children & Tandem Participation

The minimum age for participation is 3 years.

Children between approximately 3 and 8 years old generally go tandem with an adult, preferably a parent or guardian. Our guides can assist where appropriate.

From approximately 8 or 9 years old, many children are comfortable going on their own. Tandem participation can still be considered where appropriate if a child is not comfortable going alone.

Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Weather - Rain, Snow & What To Bring

We operate in most suitable weather conditions — rain and snow do not automatically stop the adventure. Rain or snow, we go!

However, lightning and gale-force winds can make conditions unsafe. In these circumstances, the activity may need to be delayed, changed or cancelled.

We can provide rain gear when required. If rain is expected, please bring suitable weatherproof clothing and a change of clothes in case you get wet.

Weather, winter in Ceres

Winter in Ceres brings a completely different atmosphere to the mountains. Cooler temperatures, dramatic scenery and changing weather conditions make it a special time to visit.

Ceres Zipline Adventures operates in suitable winter conditions, including rain and snow, provided conditions remain safe. Lightning and gale-force winds may prevent operation.

After your adventure, enjoy the warmth and hospitality of Ceres, with cosy restaurants and fireside meals in and around the valley.

If you are visiting during winter, dress appropriately for mountain conditions and bring weatherproof clothing and a change of clothes if rain is expected.

Caring for our environment

The mountains are the reason we are here, and we believe in doing our part to look after them.

Reducing Waste: We recycle the water bottles used by our guests, separate our waste and take recyclable materials to the local Municipal Recycling and Environmental Facility.

Looking After the Mountain: Litter is collected daily in the mountain area as well as around our office and parking areas, both of which are accessible to the public. This includes not only rubbish left by our own guests, but also litter left behind by other visitors.

Water: There is only natural mountain river water available in the mountain environment, which is why bottled drinking water is provided to guests during the activity.

Saving Water & Energy: We do not have a geyser at our office, and we use simple water-saving measures, including bricks in the toilet cisterns to reduce the amount of water used per flush. Looking after the environment is an ongoing effort, and we are continually looking for practical ways to reduce our impact.
